Winchester (determined by PR dates) 1st started using the superposed “WP” Winchester Definitive evidence mark in May perhaps 1905, and ongoing to use it on most models from that point on. In my surveys, I've verified that date for the Model 1885, Product 1894, and Design 1897, and I believe that Michael has verified the exact same to the Design 1892. Winchester proper from the beginning marked both of those the barrel as well as receiver.
